THE RAOUL WALLENBERG WORLD WIDE CAMPAIGN AGAINST RACISM
As an educational tool, this memorial
will be beyond comparison. It will instill in
todays youth those highly redeeming qualities
that Raoul Wallenberg embodied. It will serve as a
beacon of hope that his principles (or raison
dêtre ) will prevail, thereby ennobling
mankind.
International Center For Human Rights and Democratic
Development
Paul Lancz, one of North Americas
most famed and illustrious sculptors has achieved
resounding success with his Montreal based Wallenberg
memorial. Its physiognomy masterfully evokes
conviction, determination and courage that enabled
Raoul Wallenberg to accomplish feats unparalleled in
the annals of mankind.
Most diplomatic
Bust honors man behind ' Wallenberg passports'
Lancz, 76, avoided deportation to the
Nazi death camps at least in part because of diplomat
Raoul Wallenbergs courageous initiative. He and
thousands of other Hungarians survived and never
forgot Wallenbergs courage. His
"selflessness, courage, conviction and nobility
" in rescuing threatened people are reflected in
Lanczs bronze bust of Wallenberg unveiled
yesterday in the garden of Christ church Cathedral.
" In so doing, he managed to save the lives of
tens of thousands," Lancz said yesterday,
recalling how, through his own stealth and the "
Wallenberg Passport," he avoided deportation and
death."
